Surrogate is
It’s a woman who gets artificially inseminated with the father’s sperm. They then carry the baby and deliver it for you and your partner to raise. The two different types of surrogacy are categorized as traditional or gestational.
Donated sperm is offered to couples where there is no possibility of retrieving sperms naturally or by a surgical procedure for a man. The donor sperm is used to either inseminate the woman (IUI) or to fertilise her eggs in an IVF process.
During in vitro fertilization, eggs are removed from mature follicles within an ovary (A). An egg is fertilized by injecting a single sperm into the egg or mixing the egg with sperm in a petri dish (B). The fertilized egg (embryo) is transferred into the uterus (C).
The type of surrogacy is determined by how the embryo is created and whether the gestational carrier is the biological mother. The two different types of surrogacy are categorized as traditional or gestational.
Pregnancy is achieved through in vitro fertilization (IVF). A traditional surrogate both donates her own egg and carries a pregnancy for an individual or couple. The pregnancy is usually achieved through intrauterine insemination (IUI) with sperm from the intended father. Donor sperm may also be used.
A surrogate, sometimes also called a gestational carrier, is a woman who conceives, carries and gives birth to a child for another person or couple (intended parent/s). The surrogate agrees to give the child to that person or couple after the birth.
Basic required standards :
Becoming a surrogate and helping another person or couple achieve their dreams of parenthood is an amazing act of kindness. The intended parents would not be able to experience the ultimate joy of having a child without your generous desire to help. You will have a sense of pride that you helped another family fulfill their dream, bringing them so much joy and changing their lives forever!
Surrogacy is a method of assisted reproduction where intended parents work with a gestational surrogate who will carry and care for their baby(ies) until birth. Intended parents use surrogacy to start or grow their families when they can’t do so on their own.
In order to match compatible Intended Parents an interview process is necessary. Each Surrogate Mother who offers her help to a Surrogacy agency or Surrogacy provider will need to be asked a series of questions. After the answers are reviewed by the Surrogacy Providers then the Surrogate Mother will wait until she is selected through the matching process. The matching processes is usually based on meeting the needs and values similar to that of the IP’s in order to develop a trust worthy relationship with both parties involved.
Here is an example of the types of questions that might be asked to potential Surrogate Mothers during their interview:
Once we have a potential match, we will share the intended parents’ profile with you. You will review the profile to see if you are interested in meeting (usually via video call). An agency representative attends this meeting with you, guiding you and the intended parent(s) in the discussion. Both parties can ask questions to get an idea of how the other feels about the process and to get to know the parent(s) for whom you will be carrying the precious child. This meeting is intended to create a bond of trust between both parties, as having both parties comfortable with each other is very important. This is a very exciting point in the process!
